Review: Paul Thomas Anderson has become perhaps the greatest American Auteur of his generation. At 42 years, this is his sixth film (Hard Eight after 1996s, 1997s, 1999s Boogie Nights Magnolia - my favorite of all time - 2002s, Punch-Drunk Love and There Will Blood 2007s be). As the end of the aging master maestríay Kubrick Terrence Malick (which, incidentally, just debuted the sixth film, the miracle at the last Venice Film Festival, where it won the Lion PTI Silver for Best Director), is that the most prolific filmmakers, but his creations perfectionist brain but surprisingly cinematic and emotional, yet leave an indelible mark (polarize the public, but generally get very good reviews). Master is no exception. Shot on 70mm film, not so much the outside pocket as you'd imagine - even though each image is beautiful and perfectly formed (thanks to cinematographer Mihai Malaimare Jr., who replaced Robert ELSVIT, collaborator Anderson usual). Remember, There Will Be Blood in tone and content, but is only (Jonny Greenwood is more responsible for the outcome) Kuell Freddie (Joaquin Phoenix) is a volatile and destabilizing Tramp becomes a companion. Lancaster Dodd (extraordinary actor Philip Seymour Hoffman), the captain of a cult called the cause of America after the war. Your extrañay ambiguous relationship is the center of the film. The master is thinking acusacióny cult fanaticism lies sold as a religion, which has caused controversy and concern among Scientologists and before its release. Like his previous films, there's more than it seems in one point of view, and attention to detail is worth (there is also a visual tribute to Jonathan Demmes Melvin and Howard, another favorite of Anderson, the scene of motorcycle racing). Hoffman is as good as ever, and Amy Adams is very efficient (slow suicide gestures corny) as his wife. David Linchs golden girl Laura Dern plays a small role. But this is Joaquin Phoenix an hour all the way. The younger brother of River Phoenix was fascinating, and I'm an actor, because Gus Van Sants black comedy To Die For (1995), and after many actuacióny announced retirement of the musical career of fraud in 2009, was able to return to action of the ages culminating in gold Oscars. As for Anderson, not sure if the Academy finally recognition it deserves. His films still be too fancy for Academis taste (HES has announced his next project will be an adaptation of the novel by Thomas Pinchons crime inherent defect, seemingly less ambitious project hopes to do in less than five years). Regardless of the Oscar-numbers, we can be sure that in the world we PTI that such personal works and original and find an audience, there is hope, and room for an intelligent film.
